Highway 55 Closures Begin Friday In Twin Cities Metro

Several closes on the highway are scheduled for this spring between Minneapolis and Inver Grove Heights.

RICHFIELD, MN — Multiple closures on Highway 55 are scheduled to take place this Friday, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Eastbound Highway 55 between Highway 5 and Mendota Heights Road will close Friday at 6 a.m. and will remain closed through June 18 as construction crews repair pavement.

Meanwhile, Highway 55 will also close in both directions on Friday between Mendota Heights Road and Argenta Trail in Inver Grove Heights. This portion of Highway 55 is scheduled to reopen by May 28, according to a news release.

Here is the full list of closures on Highway 55 scheduled through June:

6 a.m. Fri, April 29 through mid-June

  • EB Hwy 55 is closed between Mendota Heights Rd. and Hwy 62

6 p.m. Fri, April 29 through late May

  • I-35E is closed in both directions between Hwy 77 and I-494
    • Detour: Hwy 77 to I-494 to access I-35E

9 p.m. Fri, May 6 through 5 a.m. Mon, May 9

  • I-494 is closed in both directions between Hwy 77 and I-35E
    • Detour: Hwy 77 to I-35E to access I-494
