Healthgrades said in its survey that more than three-fourths (76 percent) of consumers rely on quality rankings when choosing a specialty hospital. The survey also showed that when deciding between hospitals before scheduling procedures, nearly two-thirds (63 percent) said they would choose the hospital that received a high-quality ranking.

The organization said in a news release that it used data-driven, clinically validated methodology that focuses solely on patient outcomes to determine the rankings.
