Jim Harbaugh Is Possible Finalist For Vikings HC Job: Report

The Minnesota Vikings' new general manager, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah​, has a previous relationship with the Michigan Wolverines' coach.

MINNEAPOLIS — Michigan's head football coach, Jim Harbaugh, could make a return to the NFL by way of the Minnesota Vikings.

Over the weekend, the Vikings had an "exploratory conversation" with Harbaugh on Saturday to gauge his interest in returning, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports. Conversations with Harbaugh are expected to continue this week.

The Vikings' new general manager, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, has a previous relationship. The two crossed paths while working for the 49ers.

Their relationship is a primary factor in the team's interest in the Michigan coach, ESPN's Courtney Cronin reports.

Harbaugh spent four years as the head coach at San Francisco and took the 49ers to the 2013 Super Bowl. He was fired after going 8-8 in 2014.

His overall record in the NFL is 44-19-1.

The Vikings also plan to conduct in-person, second interviews this week with Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O'Connell and San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans.
