Minneapolis' 2025 Pool Season Kicks Off This Weekend: What To Know
Dozens of Minneapolis wading pools will open for the season Saturday, just in time for Memorial Day weekend.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Dozens of Minneapolis wading pools will open for the season Saturday, just in time for Memorial Day weekend. The free pools will operate daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. through Labor Day, with additional school-adjacent sites set to open June 7.
Two beaches will have limited lifeguard service over the holiday weekend, and more aquatic facilities, including water parks and indoor pool hours, will ramp up in early June.

Wading Pools & Splash Pads
- Open Saturday, May 24 at dozens of locations across the city
- Daily hours: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Free to use; no lifeguards on duty
- Final day of the season is Monday, September 1 (Labor Day)
- Restrooms outside rec centers will be open during the same hours
- Additional “school-site” locations open Saturday, June 7, after the school year ends

Beaches & Lifeguard Services

- All 12 Minneapolis beaches are open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Lifeguard hours (Preseason):
- May 24–26 (Sat–Mon): 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- May 31–June 1 (Sat–Sun): 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Locations: Lake Nokomis Main Beach, Wirth Lake Beach
- Main season lifeguard coverage begins June 7 at six beaches, daily from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Other Aquatics Facilities
- Webber Natural Swimming Pool and Jim Lupient Water Park open Saturday, June 7
- Phillips Aquatics Center summer hours begin Monday, June 2 (Monday–Thursday: 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.)
- North Commons Water Park will be closed for construction in 2025 and 2026
