MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis voters on Tuesday were tasked with electing city council members for every ward in the city. As of Wednesday morning, city election officials had declared "unofficial winners" in all 13 races.

In the closest race of the night, City Council President Andrea Jenkins narrowly defeated socialist and DFL-endorsed Soren Stevenson by only 38 votes, 3,894 to 3,856. Election officials declared Jenkins the unofficial winner just before noon on Wednesday.

But the four other council candidates endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America were projected to win their elections, making it a successful election night for progressive activists.
