Minneapolis' July 4 Fireworks 2022 Canceled

Minneapolis' traditional Independence Day events may be canceled, but there are several other ways you can celebrate Independence Day.

MINNEAPOLIS — The city of Minneapolis' traditional "Red, White, and Boom" celebration, including the fireworks over the Mississippi River, will not be held this year. But it's not because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The celebration was canceled due to construction at Father Hennepin Park and staff shortages.

In lieu of the traditional downtown fireworks, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board will be hosting smaller, family-friendly July 4 events at the following parks.
