All 137 precincts reported their first-choice results early Wednesday morning, showing a clear lead for incumbent Jacob Frey, but not enough to avoid additional rounds of tabulation that will determine the final winner.

With 100 percent of precincts reporting, the first-choice totals were:

While the mayoral count continues, city council results are largely set.

Minneapolis City Council Results

Progressives held onto a majority on the Minneapolis City Council despite Council Member Katie Cashman’s loss. Seven progressives won re-election or open seats late Tuesday night.

The Twin Cities Democratic Socialists of America congratulated its endorsed candidates and members Soren Stevenson, Robin Wonsley, Jason Chavez, and Aisha Chughtai on their decisive wins.

The group also endorsed Omar Fateh for mayor, who currently trails Jacob Frey after first-choice votes were counted.

It’s not yet clear whether Fateh can overcome Frey’s lead once ranked-choice tabulation begins, but based on early totals, Frey remains the favorite to win a third term.

TCDSA leaders said members filled 1,100 volunteer shifts this election cycle — the largest slate of campaigns the chapter has ever supported.

“We are proud as a chapter to have supported all our endorsed campaigns,” said TCDSA Co-Chair Brooke Bartholomew, adding that corporate developers and landlords “spent over $1 million to tilt elections in their favor this year, but organized people pushed back.”
