Photos: 10-Year-Old Killed In Annunciation Shooting Remembered As Funny, Curious And Brave
Family and friends remembered Harper Moyski, killed in the Annunciation Catholic School shooting, as funny, curious, and full of light.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Hundreds gathered Sunday at the Lake Harriet Bandshell to celebrate the life of 10-year-old Harper Lillian Moyski, who was killed in the Aug. 27 mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis.
Harper’s mother, Jackie Flavin, told mourners that the support of the community had lifted the family when it felt as if it had been "dropped at the bottom of an ocean where it's pitch black and the pressure is crushing."
"She had her own point of view, her own sense of style, her own way of being. She didn't wait for permission. She didn't water herself down," Flavin said. "And she really taught us to show up exactly as you are."

Harper and her classmate, 8-year-old Fletcher Merkel, were killed when a 23-year-old former student opened fire with multiple weapons during a Mass, firing more than 100 rounds into the church.
Twenty-one others were injured. Authorities said the gunman, Robin Westman, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Flavin described Harper as “extra in the very best way,” a child who never did anything halfway. She loved animals and dreamed of becoming a veterinarian.
“Harper didn't do anything halfway,” Flavin said. “Always choosing the premium versions, always going for the extra scoop.”
Other speakers used the celebration to call for change, urging people to commit themselves to building a less violent society.
Rabbi Jason Rodich, an extended family member, asked those gathered to reject anger and division. “Turn just a little to the warm soul beside you,” he said. “Do it for Harper. Do it for you.”
Harper’s family said they will carry her light forward by chasing sunsets, asking bold questions, and loving with all they have.
