Sewer Backup Shuts Down Lake Nokomis Beaches

The Lake Nokomis beaches in Minneapolis have been closed until further notice, the Park Board announced Monday.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Lake Nokomis beaches in Minneapolis have been closed until further notice due to a sanitary sewer backup in the area Monday morning.

All beaches at the lake are closed until further notice, including:

"The overflow has been stopped and cleanup has occurred," Minneapolis Parks Board officials said in a statement. "MPRB will sample lake water at the beach locations and provide further updates when they are available."
