Snow, Sleet Arrive Overnight, Slippery Tuesday Morning Likely In Twin Cities
A messy mix overnight could leave roads slick and slow across the Twin Cities for Tuesday's morning commute.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — A wintry mix arrives in Minnesota late Monday and could leave parts of the Twin Cities with a light coating of slushy snow by Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
Rain is expected to change over to a mix of snow and sleet overnight, with the highest chances for accumulation focused south of the metro. A narrow band from southern Minnesota up to the southern Twin Cities suburbs has the strongest signal for measurable snow.

Official NWS snowfall projections show a 40 percent chance of the Twin Cities metro seeing at least 0.1 inch of snow or more.

The high-end total for the metro tops out around a half-inch, meaning any snow that falls will be light and slushy.
Areas south and southeast of the metro are more likely to see accumulation. Cities such as Faribault, Red Wing, Hutchinson, Rochester, and Redwood Falls carry 46–48 percent chances of picking up at least a tenth of an inch, with expected totals around 1 inch in the heaviest band.

Light snow will taper off by late Tuesday morning, but the timing means roads could be slick for the morning commute. The Weather Service is advising drivers to prepare for slow and slippery travel, especially south of the Twin Cities and along I-35, Highway 52, and I-90.
