Students Across Twin Cities To Walkout Against Gun Violence Friday
Demonstrations at multiple Twin Cities schools are set to include rallies, moments of silence, and calls for gun reform.

TWIN CITIES, MN — Students across the Twin Cities are planning to walk out of class on Friday afternoon to participate in a protest against gun violence and demand gun control legislation.
The demonstrations, organized by Students Demand Action, come less than a week after the deadly shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis.
Walkouts are scheduled at (but not limited to) the following schools:

- Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Arts (SPCPA) — 1 p.m.
- Open World Learning Community, Saint Paul — 1 p.m.
- Great River School, Saint Paul — 1 p.m.
- Normandale, Bloomington — 1 p.m.
- Columbia Heights High School — 1:30 p.m.
- International School of Minnesota, Eden Prairie — 12:30 p.m.
- Chaska High School — 12:45 p.m.

Organizers say the events will include rallies, moments of silence, and calls for legislative action on banning assault-style weapons and high-capacity magazines. Students are also urging lawmakers to invest more in violence-prevention programs.

Everytown for Gun Safety, the parent organization of Students Demand Action, promotes the events online; however, each walkout is student-led and locally organized.
The national walkout reflects a wave of activism in the wake of the Annunciation tragedy, which killed two children and injured more than 20 others.
