Tires Slashed By Angry Ex-Employee

Officers were called to the 3400 block of Garfield Avenue South to respond to a report of someone slashing a Kingfield resident’s tires. The car’s owner told police he thought it was an ex-employee, although the suspect was gone by the time police arrived.

A Kenny man called police to report his briefcase had been stolen out of his truck. He last saw it when leaving for work on July 31. Later that evening, he had dinner at the Calhoun Beach Club, where a valet had parked the car. He discovered the bag missing when he went to collect it the next morning, before heading out of town on a flight.

Officers responded to reports of a person with a dangerous weapon in the alley behind the 3100 block of Bryant Avenue South. As officers discovered, a drug deal had gone sour, and the party with the weapon had stolen narcotics from a Como resident. The 19-year old victim of the theft was arrested for loitering with the intent to buy or sell narcotics.

Residents of the 3800 block of Drew Avenue South called police to report a break-in of their garage between 5 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on July 27. The same garage had already been burglarized on the night of June 30.

A resident of the 4900 block of Newton Ave South called police to report their garage had been broken into between 4 p.m. on July 27 and 6 p.m on July 29 while they were out of town. Their son had left the garage door open, according to the police report. Burglars took one bicycle and the front tire of another.

 A teenager who had run away from the 5500 block of Aldrich Avenue returned home. The minor was subsequently removed from the city’s database of runaway youth. The police report was unclear when the child had first disappeared.

Officers pulled over a Kingfield resident for driving with a broken tail light around 10:15 a.m. The resident gave officers proof of insurance which, officers discovered after calling the insurance agency, had been revoked. The man was cited for “knowingly” trying to pass off a canceled policy as valid.
