What's Open, Closed On MLK Jr. Day In Minneapolis 2023

Here's a look at what will be opened, and what will be closed, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Minneapolis.

MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis city government offices, including Minneapolis 311 and the Minneapolis Service Center, are closed Monday, Jan. 16, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

City offices will reopen for regular business hours on Tuesday.

However, there will be no changes to city garbage and recycling pick-up schedules, because there will be regular pickups on Jan. 16.

The Solid Waste and Recycling office is closed Monday. The South Transfer Station is closed Monday as usual.

City of Minneapolis metered parking spaces are not enforced on Jan. 16. Other metered parking restrictions in the city, such as at the University of Minnesota, Park Board, and private meters, may still be enforced.

Minneapolis police and fire emergency services and 911 are not affected by the holiday Monday.

  • Retail stores: Most will be open
  • Grocery stores: Most will be open
