What's Open, What's Closed On Thanksgiving Day 2022 In Minneapolis

Here's what will be open, and what will be closed, on Thanksgiving Day in the Minneapolis area.

MINNEAPOLIS — All Minneapolis city government offices, including Minneapolis 311 and the Minneapolis Service Center, will be on closed Thursday, Nov. 24, and Friday, Nov. 25 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Minneapolis city offices will resume regular business hours Monday, Nov. 28.

Garbage and recycling

  • There are no garbage or recycling pickups on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24.
  • Pickups typically scheduled for Thursday will be made Friday, Nov. 25.
  • Pickups normally scheduled for Friday will be made on Saturday, Nov. 26.

The Solid Waste & Recycling customer service office will also be closed on Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday, according to a news release.

The South Transfer Station will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 24, and reopen on Friday. However, customers need to have scheduled vouchers by Wednesday, officials said.

Metered parking

City of Minneapolis-owned parking meters will not be enforced on Nov. 24 and Nov. 25.

911 and emergency services

The Thanksgiving holiday and weekend will not impact Minneapolis police and fire emergency services.

Liquor stores and grocery stores

All liquor stores in the state of Minnesota must remain closed on Thanksgiving Day.
