The holiday season has arrived in Stillwater, bringing twinkling lights, cheerful events, and plenty of ways to make memories close to home. From light displays to beloved local traditions, here are the hometown holiday highlights you won’t want to miss.

GLOW Holiday Festival

When: Select dates through January 4, 2026 | 5–9 PM (last entry time: 8 PM)

Brighten your holiday season at the GLOW Holiday Festival, featuring more than a million lights, an enchanted forest, Vixen’s zip line and a giant slide. This family-friendly event, just a short drive from Stillwater offers interactive displays, festive photo ops and joyful holiday energy throughout the stadium. General admission is $21.75 for adults, $12.75 for children ages 3–12 and free for children age 2 and under; credit and debit cards are accepted.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas at the Children’s Theater Company

When: Select dates through January 4, 2026 | Showtimes vary; matinees and evening performances available
Where: Children’s Theater Company, 2400 3rd Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN

Experience Dr. Seuss’ beloved holiday tale live on stage as the Grinch learns the true meaning of Christmas. This spirited production features charming performances and colorful staging perfect for audiences of all ages. The show runs 1 hour and 50 minutes with one 15-minute intermission; availability is limited, so purchasing tickets early is recommended.

Nordic Julemarket

Celebrate a Nordic-style Christmas at the 10th annual Nordic Julemarket, down the road in Minneapolis. The event features 25 vendors offering Scandinavian-inspired gifts, treats and handcrafted goods. With festive activities and a cozy atmosphere, it’s a cheerful way to enjoy the season while supporting local artisans.

Christmas in Germany

When: December 6–7, 2025 | Entry times: 10 AM, 12 PM, 2 PM
Where: Germanic-American Institute, 301 Summit Avenue, Saint Paul, MN

Experience traditional German holiday customs at this annual open house. Visitors can enjoy lebkuchen cookies, German carols, story time with St. Nikolaus and special model train displays. Crafts for kids, indoor and outdoor festivities and a heated tent make this event welcoming for all ages. Timed entry tickets are required and can be purchased online.

A Vintage Christmas Party with Riverside Swing Band

When: December 7, 2025 | 7 PM
Where: Marine Village Hall, 121 Judd Street, Marine on Saint Croix, MN

Celebrate the season with a lively 1940s-style holiday party featuring music from the Riverside Swing Band. Guests can enjoy vintage attire, desserts, holiday hits ranging from The Nutcracker Suite to modern favorites and a spirited festive atmosphere. Downton Abbey Christmas Dinner

When: December 13, 2025 | 6 PM
Where: The Outing Lodge at Pine Point, 1161 Myeron Road N, Stillwater, MN

Fans of Downton Abbey can step into a high-society holiday celebration at this themed dinner. Guests are encouraged to dress in late 1800s–1920s attire and will enjoy chef’s choice hors d’oeuvres, a 7 PM dinner featuring Beef Bourguignon with gluten-free sides and Vanilla Crème Brûlée for dessert. A Stillwater Christmas Carol

When: December 18–23, 2025 (excluding December 21) | 7 PM nightly (1:30 PM show available on December 20)
Where: Grand Banquet Hall, 301 S 2nd Street, Stillwater, MN

Enjoy a reimagined version of Dickens’ classic, adapted with a Stillwater twist by Michael Dufault. Guests can arrive early for drinks and food, including pizza available for purchase before the show—orders must be placed at least 15 minutes prior to showtime. Tickets are $35 plus tax for adults and $20 plus tax for children ages 10 and under.
