Lanes, Ramps On Westbound I-494 To Close In East Metro

Lanes will be closed on the Wakota Bridge so that construction crews can continue resurfacing the bridge.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, MN — Westbound Interstate 494 over the Wakota Bridge will be reduced to two lanes starting Tuesday, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, so that construction crews can resurface the bridge.

The following ramps will be closed also:

  • Maxwell Avenue ramp to westbound I-494 - Detour is Maxwell Avenue, Glen Road, northbound 61 to westbound I-494
  • Westbound I-494 ramp to Hardman Avenue - Detour is to exit at Concord Street (reopening on July 16)

The lane closures and the Maxwell Avenue ramp to westbound I-494 are scheduled to reopen on July 29, according to transit officials.

Crews are scheduled to work during the day and night shifts — including some Saturdays — to complete the project by the end of August.
