Readers Tell All: Best Trails in (or Near) Stillwater
Discover some of the best trails in and near Stillwater, according to readers.

Earlier this week, Stillwater Patch asked readers where the best trails are in town.
One reader started his own board post and shared where he thought some of the best trails within 15 minutes of Stillwater:Â
Pine Point Park - Close to Stillwater, not too hilly.Â
Afton State Park - I run it almost weekly, and still haven't hit all the trails. LOTS of hills, but LOTS of variety. My absolute favorite place to run, is down to their "Trout Brook Loop" on the west side of the park. Take the western most hill down to the stream. A nice long downhill run!Â
William O'Brien - A lot of open fields, but some good wooded sections too. Good hills.Â
Lake Elmo Park Reserve - Good option for after work, if you're commuting from MSP. I've stepped in some pretty deep puddles after rains, or during spring melting... but that just makes it fun. I love the run around Eagle Point Lake. It's a nice 3 miles, with some options to extend it easily.Â
Willow River State Park (Hudson)Â - Some great options here too. They have added some trails in the last couple of years.
The conversation also took off regarding trails on Stillwater's Facebook page. See some of their comments below. Where do you think the best trails are in or near Stillwater? Tell us in the comments!
- Carol: Valley View Park in Oak Park Heights - through woods and wetland - but near the new bridge construction now for a short span.
- Josh: Stillwater please follow Duluth's lead and build a Mountain Bike course(and dog park!) on some of that new land north of downtown, this will bring local riders from all over to spend their money.
