The Ponies beat Bemidji 6-2 in the state tournament's third-place game Sunday in Baudette.
STILLWATER, MN — The Stillwater Bantam AA hockey team finished its season on a high Sunday as it beat Bemidji 6-2 to claim third place at the state tournament.
The Ponies started off the tournament Friday with a 2-1 overtime win against West St. Paul but lost 6-3 to Moorhead on Saturday morning in the semifinal round.

The Stillwater Bantam AA hockey team bounced back Sunday to take down Bemidji and finish in third at the state tournament at the Lake of the Woods International Arena in Baudette.
Bemidji opened the scoring in the first period of the third-place game, but the Ponies raced ahead after scoring four goals before the end of the first period, according to statistics from Minnesota Hockey.

Jonas Kohn, Trey Fredenberg, Brady McElmury and Lucas Myers each scored in the first period, with Fredenberg adding the Ponies’ fifth goal in the second period.
Bemidji scored early in the third period to reduce Stillwater’s lead, but the Ponies finished strong as Kohn scored his second and the team’s sixth goal with less than a minute left in the game, according to Minnesota Hockey statistics.
