Stillwater Baseball Team To Play For State Title Friday Night
The Ponies took down Chanhassen 5-3 on Thursday afternoon to book their spot in the Class AAAA state championship game at Target Field.

STILLWATER, MN — The Stillwater Area High School baseball team is one win from becoming state champions and will play for the Class AAAA title Friday at Target Field.
The Ponies took down Chanhassen 5-3 on Thursday afternoon to earn their shot at the Class AAAA baseball state championship.
Chanhassen took a 1-0 lead in the first inning before Stillwater replied with four runs in the fifth inning. Chanhassen scored twice in the sixth to cut Stillwater’s lead to just one run, but the Ponies’ Mason Buck hit a ground-rule double that drove in another run in the seventh inning, according to Stillwater Baseball’s Twitter account.

Brayden Hellum finished the game on the mound for Stillwater, who will face Farmington at 7 p.m. Friday at Target Field, with the Class AAAA title on the line.
Farmington punched its ticket to the title game with a grand slam in the sixth inning of its semifinal game against Maple Grove. That put Farmington up 7-5 over Maple Grove, who held an early 5-0 lead, according to the Minnesota State High School League.

Both Class AAAA baseball semifinal games were initially scheduled for Wednesday but were played Thursday due to a weather postponement.
