• Stillwater seeking volunteers to join city commissions (hometownsource.com) — Stillwater residents are being invited to apply for open seats on the city’s Energy Action Commission and Human Rights Commission, both of which help shape local policy and community goals. Meetings are held at City Hall, and applications are due by noon on Monday, Dec. 22 via the city’s website. 
• Long in the making, new extension of popular Gateway State Trail gets the green light (startribune.com) — A long-planned 3.6‑mile extension of the Gateway State Trail in Scandia is moving ahead, and supporters say its impact could mirror the weekend buzz Stillwater sees from the Brown’s Creek connection. The new link to William O’Brien State Park is expected to boost cycling tourism, outdoor recreation, and economic activity in nearby trail communities.
