STILLWATER, MN — The Stillwater Area High School boys lacrosse team’s state-title hunt came to an end Thursday with a loss in the semifinal round.
Benilde-St. Margaret’s defeated the Ponies by a 15-10 scoreline, thanks to a record-breaking performance by junior Carsen Brandt. Brandt set a new state-tournament record for most assists in a single game with seven, and he tied the record for most points in a game (10), according to the Minnesota State High School League.

Seniors Owen Grau, Aidan Anderson and Sam Ness each scored two goals for the Ponies, while senior Carter Bies registered two assists, MSHSL statistics show.
Stillwater will play Centennial at 1 p.m. Saturday at Roseville Area High School in the third-place game before Stillwater Area High School hosts the title game between Benilde-St. Margaret’s and Prior Lake at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Stillwater beat Woodbury High School 18-5 on Tuesday to reach the state semifinal.
