Washington County Historical Society Hosts 5K at Hay Lake
The forecast is better, but not perfect, for Saturday's Hay Lake Run. If the elements outdoors are rough, come out and check out the museum and log home on the grounds.
The Washington County Historical Society (WCHS) in kicking off the 2013 summer season with a 5K Run and Walk from the Hay Lake School Museum at 9a.m. on Saturday, May 4.
The run is a fundraising and awareness-raising event for WCHS and the Hay Lake School Museum located at the corner of Olinda Trail and Old Marine Trail just a mile south of Scandia. Participants in the event will be given an event t-shirt.
The 5K Hay Lake Run will start at the Hay Lake School Museum and will loop around nearby Sand Lake before finishing back at the museum. The museum will remain open for free tours of the schoolhouse and the Erickson Log Home. Participants are encouraged to stick around after the race to look around the museum and learn more about one-room school houses and their role in Washington County’s History.

To register for the run for more information, participants are encouraged to go online to the Events page on WCHS home site or to call Site Manager David Sandager, 651-433-4014. Pre-race day registration is $15, and includes the race cost as well as the event t-shirt. Registration on Saturday is $20.
