STILLWATER, MN — Washington County officials are once again planning to shut down Highway 36 in Stillwater over the weekend, but this time it appears the weather might cooperate.

Officials have announced plans to close Highway 36 each of the previous two weekends before canceling the closure due to rain and cold weather.

Highway 36 is now set to close this weekend so crews could pour concrete on the bridge that will allow Manning Avenue to cross the highway and install the south half of a storm sewer pipe, according to Washington County officials.

The planned closure will be delayed until Monday night if it rains this weekend, officials said.

The National Weather Service’s forecast for the Stillwater area shows there is a small chance of rain before 1 p.m. Friday, though the rest of Friday and Saturday should be mostly sunny with high temperatures in the mid-60s.
