Wind Chills Return to Stillwater Like a Boomerang

The heart of the work week will see highs at or near 0°F.

It's ba-a-a-a-ck. Call it the polar vortex or just plain cold, Stillwater is in for another bout of arctic temps this week.

Here's part of what the National Weather Service-Twin Cities says in a Wind Chill Advisory in effect from 9 p.m. Monday to noon Tuesday:

... VERY COLD WIND CHILLS EXPECTED TONIGHT ... A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL PUSH THROUGH THE REGION THIS AFTERNOON...USHERING IN ANOTHER SURGE OF FRIGID AIR TO THE REGION. THE COMBINATION OF LOW TEMPERATURES AND BREEZY NORTHWEST WINDS WILL CREATE WIND CHILL VALUES BETWEEN 25 DEGREES BELOW ZERO AND 40 DEGREES BELOW ZERO. ... A WIND CHILL ADVISORY IS INEFFECT WITH WIND CHILL VALUES AS LOW AS 30 DEGREES BELOW ZERO. ... WIND CHILL ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON CST TUESDAY ... PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS ... A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS ... MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND GLOVES.
