St. Louis Park Residents Should Wear Masks Indoors: CDC Guidance

ST. LOUIS PARK, MN —Residents in St. Louis Park should be wearing masks when in indoor, public settings, according to the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control.

Hennepin County currently has a "high" community transmission rate, the CDC finds. Counties with high or substantial transmission rates should mandate indoor masks, the CDC said.

According to the CDC:

  • Substantial areas are areas with between 50 and 99.99 cases per 100,000 people in a week
  • High areas are areas with more than 100 cases per 100,000 in a week

The CDC can only make recommendations. It's up to the state and local government whether to adopt any new policies.

The highly infectious delta variant of COVID-19 is spreading throughout the U.S. and Minnesota, spurring a surge in new cases and hospitalizations. In response, many companies, hospitals, and schools are now requiring their employees to get vaccinated against the virus.
