Taco Bell To Debut 'Revolutionary' Drive-Thru At MN Location
Taco Bell's first two-story restaurant location is set to open in the Twin Cities on Tuesday.
BROOKLYN PARK, MN — Taco Bell says it plans to unveil "revolutionary" drive-thru technology at its first two-story restaurant located in Brooklyn Park.
The concept — known as "Taco Bell Defy" — was designed with the goal of delivering food to drivers in two minutes or less. It will open to the public on Tuesday.
To do that, Taco Bell teamed up with Minneapolis-based Vertical Works Inc. to design the new, extra-speedy drive-thru.

The first thing that customers will notice at the Brooklyn Park location is the four-lane drive-thru.
- Two lanes for pre-orders
- Fans who order over the Taco Bell app will get "skip-the-line" service
- One lane just for third-party delivery drivers
- A traditional drive-thru for people coming in spontaneously
Other features include digital check-in screens and two-way audio and video technology service for customers to talk to Taco Bell team members on the second floor.

Finally, each order will be delivered to drive-thru customers down from the second-floor kitchen using a proprietary vertical lift, Taco Bell said.
Taco Bell said its considering potential retrofits that could be made to several of Taco Bell Defy's neighboring restaurants.
Taco Bell Defy is located at 5931 94th Ave N, Brooklyn Park, MN 55443.
