1 Woodbury School Added To COVID-19 Outbreak List

The most recent list released Thursday included 15 schools in Woodbury.

WOODBURY, MN — One Woodbury school was added Thursday to the Minnesota Department of Health's list of facilities with recent outbreaks, pushing the city's total to 15 schools — the highest it's been since officials started tracking that data at the start of this academic year.

St. Paul Public Schools’ E-STEM Middle School in Woodbury was named on the department’s most recent list, joining 14 other schools that have been on the list for at least a week:

  • Lake Middle School
  • Liberty Ridge Elementary
  • Middleton Elementary
  • New Life Academy
  • Red Rock Elementary
  • Royal Oaks Elementary
  • Saint Ambrose Catholic School
  • Valley Crossing Elementary
  • Woodbury Elementary
  • Woodbury High School
  • Woodbury Leadership Academy
  • Woodbury Middle School

Eleven of the 15 Woodbury schools on the list are in the South Washington County Schools district.

No Threat To SoWashCo Schools Amid TikTok Trend: Officials

The COVID-19 data dashboard for South Washington County Schools shows there have been 1,246 total coronavirus cases this academic year across the district's schools, as of Dec. 9, including more than 160 cases over the previous week.

Elementary schools in the district are operating with increased health and safety procedures after a spike in cases among staff and students in November.

Students are required to eat meals in their classrooms, limit their movement throughout schools and enjoy recess separately from other classes, officials said.

The increased health and safety measures are due to continue at least until winter break.

The Minnesota Department of Health's most recent list of facilities with coronavirus outbreaks included 49 Washington County schools, one more than the previous week.

The total number of Minnesota schools on the list dropped almost 20 percent over the past week, from 1,035 to 842 schools.
