Justice Rosalie Wahl Documentary to Premiere Wednesday

The "Girl from Birch Creek," is a documentary tells the story of Justice Rosalie Wahl, first woman on the Minnesota Supreme Court, who overcomes hardships in her own life to fight for civil rights, women’s rights and equal access to justice.

Lightshed Productions chose to make this film because we believe in telling stories about individuals with vision and perseverance who work to bring about positive change in our society.  This is even more important now in these contentious times

During this past year there have been two exciting developments which have allowed Lightshed Productions to complete this film to the highest production values.  In January we received a substantial award of Legacy funds through the Minnesota Historical Society and the Washington County Historical Society to cover post-production costs for the film. In August, NPR's Nina Totenberg agreed to do the narration for the film and her voice talent animates and brings added credibility to the narrative.

Because of your early support and/or interest in this documentary we would like to invite you to the Sneak Preview of the film this November. Since there is limited seated we ask for an RSVP to either the Historical Society or John Kaul at Lightshed Productions.

"Girl from Birch Creek" will be shown on November 14, 2012 at the Marcus Theaters in Oakdale, Minnesota (5677 Hadley Avenue North Oakdale, MN 55128). There will be a reception (appetizers and cash wine bar) at the theater before the screening.  The reception will  begin at 6:00pm. 

The presentation of the film will take place commencing at 7:00pm with a brief introduction by the filmmakers and Brent Peterson, Executive Director of the Washington County Historical Society. After the screening of the film there will be a question and answer period for people wanting to learn more about the film and its production.
