Master Gardeners Plan Plant Sale, Diagnostic Clinic

Mark your calendars now for the annual and popular Plant Sale and Diagnostic Clinic on Sunday, June 2, hosted by University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardeners in Washington County.

Home gardeners can buy plants and get their yard and garden questions answered for free.

The Diagnostic Clinic will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the Plant Sale from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The event will be held in the 4-H Building at the Washington County Fairgrounds, located at Hwy 5 and Manning Ave., Lake Elmo, Minn.

The plant sale features quality perennials from Master Gardeners’ home and demonstration gardens as well as vegetables, herbs, and annuals started from seed. If you are looking for garden perennials for sun or shade, natives for your new rain garden, or plants that attract butterflies and hummingbirds this is the place to be.

At the Diagnostic Clinic, Master Gardeners and specially-trained Tree Care Advisors, Home Insect Control specialists and others will be on hand to answer questions. The public is encouraged to bring in plant or insect samples along with their gardening questions.

Sale proceeds will be used to support Master Gardener educational activities in Washington County.  Participants in the University of Minnesota Master Gardener Program are specially trained volunteers who are interested in horticulture and community service.

Their mission is to educate the public with research-based information on the best practices in consumer horticulture and environmental stewardship.
