Woodbury Artists Host Art Show, Sale for Muscular Dystrophy

Woodbury brothers Alex Amble Gravdahl, 16, and Pasha Amble Gravdahl, 11, are gearing up for their fifthΒ annual Art Show & Sale after completing an exhibit at Affinity Federal Credit Union in St Paul.Β 

They had their art on exhibit there for the past month. They are now working with their mom, Becky Amble, and seven artists from Minnesota to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.Β

The boys are hoping to send a large check to the Minnesota Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.Β  The family is hosting their fifthΒ annual Art Show and Sale Nov 10-11. A total of 10 artists are participating in the event, which will be at the family’s home in Woodbury.

Alex began selling his artwork at 9 years of age and Pasha began selling his art at age 4. They have both received numerous awards from the Washington County and the MN State Fairs including Grand Champion awards and several Blue Ribbons. They both exhibit their artwork and had exhibits at Woodbury Central Park each year since 2009.Β  Their artwork includes greeting cards, fused glass art, photography, oil, pastel, watercolor and acrylic paintings.

Becky Amble started the show and sale five years ago.Β 

β€œI thought it would be fun to let others see the artwork my boys do and sell what we can to help benefit others.Β  We now have a total of ten artists participating," she said. "We have pottery to oil paintings, and lots of jewelry which is always so popular.”

The show will be held at the Amble and Gravdahl home at 6318 Crackleberry Trail in Woodbury.Β 

Saturday hours (Nov 10) are 9AM-5PM and Sunday hours (Nov 11) are noon to 5PM.Β  The public is invited.Β  Beverages and snacks will provided.

A special addition to this years’ show is a book signing on Saturday, Nov 10, from 1-2PM by Deborah Jo Larson.Β  People can purchase and this newly released book signed by the author! This is Larson’s first picture book. One Frozen Lake is about several adventures of a grandfather and his grandson.

β€œI am thrilled to be included in this art show and sale.Β  It will be so much fun to be at a show with one of my students.Β  I am so proud of Alex for his hard work and creativity, β€œ said Samah Fahmy.

Part of the proceeds from sales will be donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), an organization close to the heart of the Amble family.Β  In the spring of 2009, Alex was diagnosed with a nerve disease covered by the MDA.Β  One year later, Alex began his mission to raise $1 million for the MDA to find a cure for muscular dystrophy diseases.Β  He has participated in several events to raise money for the MDA.Β  www.alexamblemusic.com or www.alexamblemusic.com/links.html for info.Β 

β€œWe just loving helping other people and when we can raise money for the MDA that is great!" says Pasha.

β€œWe are so impressed with Alex’s efforts and commitment to helping the MDA! It is just inspiring to see someone his age take on such a huge effort,” commented Gina Adolphson of the MDA.Β  β€œWe are looking forward to having some of his art for the National MDA tour.”
