The students were selected based on their service to the community, academic achievement and also on their response to the question, “If you were to return to your community following your education, how would you be involved in the community and what would you do to improve it?”
Students were also asked to provide a brief description of their involvement in school activities and any volunteer and work experience, in resume format.

The members of the Chamber’s Education Committee are pleased to have received so many essays that offered a glimpse of the possibilities that today’s youth envision for the community. The chamber’s annual golf outing provides the funds for the scholarships.
It is important to note that Chamber also offered a $1,000 non-traditional/returning student scholarship this year. Because there were no applications for interest, the $1,000 was added to the five $1,000 high school graduate scholarships. Watch for this opportunity again in the future.
