Customers in parts of Maplewood and Saint Paul are asked to boil water for three minutes before using it for cooking and drinking.

MAPLEWOOD, MN — Saint Paul Regional Water Services issued a boil advisory Sunday morning for some of its customers following an issue in Maplewood.

Customers in parts of Maplewood and Saint Paul are asked to boil water for three minutes before using it for cooking, drinking, or brushing their teeth.

Customers can also use bottled water as an alternative.

Utility officials said there was an issue at the Ferndale tank in Maplewood and "as a standard precaution in the unlikely case that contamination has entered the distribution system due to the loss of water pressure."

"We are dedicated to providing safe water for our customers and are taking this step out of an abundance of caution," said Racquel Vaske, assistant general manager for St. Paul Regional Water.

"Employees have resolved pressure issues and are flushing and sampling to ensure we can confidently lift this advisory as soon as possible."
