‘Dangerously Hot’ Weather Today In Washington Co.; Could Feel Like 102

Residents should find a cool place and stay indoors Tuesday, if possible. Outdoor workers should stay hydrated to try to beat the heat.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, MN — Temperatures are set to climb toward 100 degrees Tuesday in Washington County, while heat index values are expected to push past the triple-digit barrier, according to the National Weather Service.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny and hot, with a high temperature of about 96 and heat index values as high as 102, the NWS said. Forecasts are fortunately also calling for it to be breezy Tuesday in Washington County, with wind gusts as high as 30 mph.

The National Weather Service issued an excessive heat warning for Washington County and much of the Twin Cities metro from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, warning of “dangerously hot conditions.”

“Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities,” the National Weather Service said.

Residents in the area under an excessive heat warning should drink plenty of fluids and stay out of the sun and in an air-conditioned room, if possible, the NWS said.

Washington County does not have any designated “cooling centers,” but residents can try to beat the heat by going inside any city- or county-owned buildings, including City Hall facilities and Washington County Library locations.
