District Superintendent to Discuss 2013 Referendum Questions

South Washington County Schools Superintendent Keith Jacobus will be on hand for four upcoming meetings regarding three referendum questions on the 2013 ballot.

The superintendent will outline the ballot initiatives and explain “how their passage would support district students,” according to a release from District 833.

South Washington County Schools has announced the basics:

Question 1: Renews the district’s expiring referendum, which generates approximately $4.6 million annually for the general fund.

Question 2: Increases the operating referendum by $337 per pupil or a total of approximately $6.9 million for the general fund, beginning in 2014-15 annually for the next 10 years.

Question 3: Requests $8 million for the purchase and improvement of land to meet future building needs.

Public meetings are planned for:

• Monday, Sept. 23, 6 p.m., East Ridge High School, Large Group Room
• Wednesday, Sept. 25, 10 a.m., District Service Center, Board Room
• Monday, Sept. 30, 6 p.m., Woodbury High School, Lecture Hall
• Wednesday, Oct. 2, 6 p.m., Park High School, Lecture Hall

There is also a school board election Nov. 5. Seventeen people are running.
