Excessive Heat Warning Issued For Tuesday In Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY, MN — Washington County is set to be under an excessive heat warning for much of Tuesday, with heat index values potentially climbing into triple digits.

The National Weather Service’s excessive heat warning for Washington County is due to last from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The NWS is forecasting “dangerously hot conditions," with heat index values of up to 103 expected in the Twin Cities metro.

“Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities,” the NWS said.

Residents should drink plenty of fluids and stay out of the sun and in an air-conditioned room, if possible, the NWS said, encouraging people to check on their relatives and neighbors throughout the day.

A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 65. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 1 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 79. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
