WASHINGTON COUNTY, MN — Washington County is set to be under an excessive heat warning for much of Tuesday, with heat index values potentially climbing into triple digits.

The National Weather Service’s excessive heat warning for Washington County is due to last from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The NWS is forecasting “dangerously hot conditions," with heat index values of up to 103 expected in the Twin Cities metro.

“Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities,” the NWS said.

Residents should drink plenty of fluids and stay out of the sun and in an air-conditioned room, if possible, the NWS said, encouraging people to check on their relatives and neighbors throughout the day.
