WOODBURY, MN — The average monthly rent for apartments in Minnesota is around $1,400, according to RentCafe, though the amount of space a renter can get for that rate varies widely throughout the state.

RentCafe analyzed rates across Minnesota to determine how much space a potential renter could get for $1,400 in 39 cities throughout the state.

Minnesotans can rent about 870 square feet of apartment space for $1,400, on average, which is 11 percent higher than the national average for that rate, RentCafe reports.

A renter in Woodbury can expect to get slightly less space — 839 square feet — for that price, according to the report. That's the ninth-smallest space among the 39 cities that were analyzed.

Minneapolis renters get the least amount of space for the average $1,400 rent, at just 675 square feet, while Moorhead renters can get more than twice as much space — just under 1,500 square feet — for the same price, RentCafe’s report shows.

RentCafe’s budget calculator shows Woodbury residents would likely have to pay about $2,500 per month to rent a space with 1,500 square feet.

Woodbury was the only city in Washington County that was analyzed for the report. Just across the border into Ramsey County, Maplewood renters can get an average of 955 square feet for $1,400, the report shows.
