WOODBURY, MN β€” Woodbury officials shut down outdoor hockey and skating rinks in the city this week with spring approaching.

All rinks, including the rink at the newly renamed M Health Fairview Sports Center, are closed for the season, officials said Monday. Warming houses were closed March 1.

Though snow and ice continue to cover much of Minnesota, cities across the state are shutting down their outdoor ice rinks as relatively warmer weather makes it impossible to maintain them and ensure they are safe β€” another sure sign spring is on the way.
