Woodbury Burglary Suspect Pleads Guilty To Single Charge

Brian Thomas McCarthy, 24, pleaded guilty on Jan. 25 and could face up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

A 24-year-old St. Paul man suspected in a string of burglaries last December pleaded guilty Jan. 25 to one count of felony third-degree burglary.Β 

Brian Thomas McCarthy is scheduled for sentencing in Washington County District Court on April 4 and could face up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.Β 

McCarthy was originally charged with third-degree burglary andΒ receiving stolen property, but Judge Tad Jude dismissed the latter charge in exchange for his guilty plea.

, Woodbury PoliceΒ Cmdr. Jay Alberio told Patch that authorities suspected McCarthy of breaking into a detached garage in Woodbury and vehicles in Woodbury,Β Oakdale, Maplewood, Newport and St. Paul.Β Β Β 

McCarthy's criminal record shows convictions for third-degree burglary in November 2008, second-degree assault in January 2009,Β receiving stolen property in April 2009 and fifth-degree assault in August 2011.
