Oakdale Company Will Transport, Recycle Electronics Collected in Woodbury

The Washington County Board of Commissioners approved a contract with Universal Recycling Technologies for items collected at the Environmental Center.

Washington County will pay anΒ Oakdale business $52,525 next year to move and recycle electronics collected at the Environmental Center in Woodbury.

The county Board of Commissioners approved a contract with Universal Recycling Technologies on Nov. 26, according to a news release from the county.

The contract covers the same amountβ€”$52,525β€”in 2015 and 2016. The costΒ of the contractΒ will be funded by the Washington County Environmental Charge, according to the news release.

TheΒ Environmental CenterΒ is open from noon to 7 p.m. Tuesdays, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.Β Thursdays and Saturdays. It is located atΒ 4039 Cottage Grove Drive, Woodbury.

Universal Recycling has locations in Oakdale and Janesville, WI, withΒ headquarters in Janesville. There are additional sites in Oregon, Texas, Michigan, New York and New Hampshire.

"TheΒ (Environmental Center)Β accepts household hazardous waste, electronics, and recyclables," according to the news release. "TheΒ centerΒ also has a Free Product Room, in which residents may browse the shelves and take home previously owned products such as paint, stain, automotive supplies, household cleaners, and other products."
