SoWashCo Middle, High Schools Add Flexible Learning Days For 2022

There will be no classes Monday, Jan. 3, at South Washington County Schools after the school board made several calendar adjustments.

WOODBURY, MN β€” Students in South Washington County middle and high schools are set to have five flexible learning days during the second half of the 2021-22 academic year.

The flexible learning days were among several changes the SoWashCo school board made to the district’s calendar at its most recent meeting. Board members also canceled classes on Monday, Jan. 3, to give staff another day to prepare for students’ return.

The South Washington County Schools board approved the calendar changes by a 4-3 vote. Tracy Brunnette, Patricia Driscoll, Melinda Dols and Louise Hinz voted to approve the changes, while Sharon Van Leer, Simi Patnaik and Katie Schwartz voted against them.

Students learn from home and interact with their teachers and peers virtually on flexible learning days, which were introduced amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Officials said they made the calendar changes to address staffing and other issues related to the pandemic.
