Speedway Robbed At Gunpoint Tuesday Morning In Woodbury: Police

A man pulled out a black handgun, tapped it on the counter and told an employee to "give me everything," according to police.

WOODBURY, MN β€” Woodbury police are investigating an armed robbery that was reported early Tuesday morning at a Speedway convenience store in the city.

An employee at the store in the 6400 block of Lake Road Terrace called his manager just before 4 a.m. Tuesday to report the store was robbed at gunpoint about a half-hour prior to the call, according to Woodbury Police Commander John Altman.

The employee later told police a man β€œlingered” in the store, left, then returned and approached the register with his hand near his waistline, Altman said.

The man then pulled out a black handgun, tapped it on the counter and told the employee to β€œgive me everything,” according to police.

The man ran out of the store after the employee emptied his register, Altman said.

No injuries were reported, and no customers or other staff were in the store at the time of the armed robbery, police said.

Woodbury police described the suspect as a white man who is about 5 feet, 9 inches tall. He was wearing an olive-green sweatshirt, jeans, gloves, a dark face mask and a hat that appeared to show the Minnesota Twins logo during the armed robbery, Altman said.

Woodbury detectives are checking with nearby businesses for video and coordinating with other police departments in the Twin Cities metro to identify the suspect, Altman said.
