Power Out Briefly for Thousands Wednesday in Woodbury

The Xcel Energy map of outages showed more than 5,500 customers without power.

Did you lose power in Woodbury on Wednesday morning?

An electrical failure at a substation caused the outage, which lasted about 10 minutes, said Xcel Energy spokesman Tom Hoen.

The total number of customers who lost power was 5,750, Hoen said. The outage lasted from 11:35-11:44 a.m.

One resident told Patch power was out at Target, along with stoplights in the area.

There were no crashes reported during the outage, Woodbury Fire Cmdr. John Wallgren said, and there were some fire alarms that were tripped, as well.
