Tuesday: Woodbury Schools Closed Again Due to Brutal Cold
Tuesday will mark the fifth day of canceled classes this month.
Students in the South Washington County School District will get another chance to chill Tuesday, with classes canceled due to the extreme cold.
"The South Washington County School District will be closing school on Tuesday, Jan. 28," a press release from the district stated. "This is due to the continued wind chill warning through the National Weather Service.
"As the weather is predicted to improve and the wind chill warning expires at noon, all high school after school and evening activities, scheduled parent conferences, community education sponsored events, and permit holder activities for community education will take place," the press release continued.

Brutally cold weather has ruined the chance for any regular five-day school weeks in January in many Minnesota school districts—including Woodbury's, where Tuesday will mark the fifth day of canceled classes this month.
"With this season’s fifth closure day, the district will be considering the need to make up an instructional day," the district press release stated. "The district will make an announcement as to when that will occur for families to plan as needed."
Winds at sustained speeds of around 10 to 15 mph are expected again Tuesday with temperatures in the teens to 20 below zero in the morning, creating wind chill effects of 30 to 40 below zero.
