Woodbury Boys Lacrosse Looks To End State Tourney With Consolation Win

The Royals bounced back from a loss in the state quarterfinals to book its spot in the consolation final Saturday morning.

WOODBURY, MN — The Woodbury High School boys lacrosse team will try to finish its season on a high by winning the state tournament’s consolation final Saturday.

Fifth-seeded Woodbury lost its opening game in the 2022 state tournament, falling 18-5 to fourth-seeded Stillwater Area High School. That dropped the Royals into the consolation bracket of the tournament and set up a battle with Moorhead High School.

Woodbury beat Moorhead 15-7 on Thursday to book its spot in the consolation final, with seniors Conor Hooley — the Twin Cities Pioneer Press’ east metro player of the year — and Marshal Myers-Beck each scoring four goals, according to the Minnesota State High School League.

Woodbury senior Colin Olson added three goals and an assist, MSHSL statistics show.

Woodbury Native Among Top College Football Prospects Commits To Miami

The boys lacrosse consolation final is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Roseville Area High School. The Royals will play No. 2 seed Chanhassen, who beat Farmington 11-9 on Thursday after losing to Centennial 10-8 on Tuesday.

Stillwater will play Centennial in the third-place game at 1 p.m. Saturday in Roseville, while Prior Lake will take on Benilde-St. Margaret’s in the title game, scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday at Stillwater Area High School.
