Just before 3 a.m. on April 17, Woodbury police were dispatched to the 300 block of Elan Court on a report of an assault.

There, officers found the woman in her car, not clothed for the weather. She was “badly beaten.”

She told police Tweed, a former boyfriend, was living with her as a roommate and helping her fix up the home. She said she’d had two or three drinks and couldn’t remember what happened, only that she woke up on the floor, went into the bathroom and saw the injuries to her face.

She told officers Tweed told her she caused the injuries to herself.

Later, at Woodwinds Hospital, she was evaluated and found to have injuries to her face, neck, chest, back and arm, along with a golf ball-sized lump on her head. Her left eye was swollen shut and she was unable to completely close her mouth.

Tweed refused to answer the door, and police had to break it down because the door handle didn’t work.

He was found with a few small cuts on his face, and officers found a basement window broken and large rock nearby.

During booking, Tweed was found with methamphetamine. He has a prior domestic battery conviction in Illinois.

If convicted on both counts, Tweed faces up to six years in prison and $13,000 in fines.
