Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA) is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school where high expectations and success matter to all! Our learning environment and school community promotes academic achievement for students in grades K-12, as well as personal integrity, equity and a dedication to value and serve others. Our school is committed to our students’ long term success. We use inquiry based learning by teaching the Core Knowledge Curriculum — building strong skills in math, reading, writing, history, science and technology. We also have a strong character education program to ensure students develop exceptional leadership skills. The character education program includes service learning projects and a focus of five core virtues - respect, responsibility, perseverance, gratitude and humanity. WLA uses the rigorous and classical Core Knowledge Curriculum to build strong foundational knowledge across subjects, promoting academic excellence and equity. By ensuring all students share common knowledge, we can narrow achievement gaps and build critical thinking and long-term success. <a href="http://www.ci.woodbury.mn.us/police-department" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Woodbury police</a> tasered a St. Paul man Nov. 16 after he ran from officers investigating a disturbance call. A security officer at <a href="https://woodbury.patch.com/listings/woodbury-10-theatre">Woodbury 10 Theatre</a> said an apparently drunk male and female were causing a disturbance outside. When police arrived, the man ran away from them and toward some apartment buildings. An officer Tased him and he was then transported to <a href="http://www.healtheast.org/woodwinds.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Woodwinds Hospital</a>. He was released after a blood sample was taken. Police gave the female a citation for underage consumption and let her parents take her home. Charges against the man are pending the blood test results. He could be charged with DWI, obstructing the legal process and fleeing on foot.
