Woodbury Ranked Among Top 10 ‘Most Livable’ Small Cities In The US

Nineteen of the 25 "most livable" small cities are in the Midwest, while 11 of the bottom 20 cities are in Florida, according to SmartAsset.

WOODBURY, MN — Woodbury is one of the “most livable” small cities in the U.S., according to a recent study published by SmartAsset.

Woodbury was ranked No. 10 in SmartAsset’s fifth annual “Most Livable Small Cities in the U.S.” list for 2022, which analyzed data on 286 cities with 65,000-100,000 residents.

SmartAsset evaluated several metrics, including home affordability, poverty and unemployment rates, average commute time and the percentage of residents without health insurance, as well as the concentration of entertainment venues, restaurants, bars and healthcare establishments.

SmartAsset’s study also evaluated small cities’ Gini coefficient, a measure of income inequality.

Woodbury had the sixth-lowest unemployment rate — 2 percent — as of February, as well as the 14th-lowest percentage of residents living below the poverty line: 4.2 percent, according to SmartAsset.

Woodbury had the 20th-highest concentration of arts, entertainment and recreation establishments, with more than 2 percent of all establishments in Washington County, according to SmartAsset’s study.

The city ranked 26th for its percentage of housing costs relative to income (18.06 percent), SmartAsset’s study shows.

Woodbury was in the top half of all 286 cities that were analyzed for its healthcare-facilities density (12.1 percent), according to the study.

O’Fallon, Missouri, was the No. 1 “most livable” U.S. city, followed by Oshkosh and Eau Claire in Wisconsin. Florida cities Kissimmee, Homestead and Miami Beach were the lowest-ranked cities in SmartAsset’s study.

Ten of the top 70 “most livable” U.S. cities are in Minnesota, according to SmartAsset.
