WOODBURY, MN — New Life Academy’s boys basketball team is one win from playing for a state championship after taking down Sacred Heart on Wednesday night.

The private Christian school in Woodbury beat Sacred Heart 64-58 in the Class A state quarterfinal to set up a battle with Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa High School on Friday in the semifinal round.

New Life Academy held leads throughout its quarterfinal game, though Sacred Heart fought back to tie the game early in the second half, according to the Minnesota State High School League’s report on the game.

After letting the lead slip, New Life Academy scored 11 points unanswered to put the game out of reach for Sacred Heart, MSHSL statistics show.
