Woodbury Veterans Day Ceremony Canceled Due To Pandemic
The Woodbury Yellow Ribbon Network is encouraging residents to tune into Minnesota's virtual Veterans Day program Thursday.
WOODBURY, MN — The Woodbury Yellow Ribbon Network will not hold a public Veterans Day ceremony this year amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The network is encouraging residents to tune into Minnesota’s virtual Veterans Day program, which starts at 8 a.m. Thursday. The virtual ceremony will be shared on the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs website.
Country music artist Rockie Lynne is scheduled to open the program, followed by remarks from Gov. Tim Walz; DVA Commissioner Larry Herke; Major Gen. Shawn Make, adjutant general of the Minnesota National Guard; and several other officials, according to a news release.

The program, which will be hosted by former WCCO reporter Bill Hudson, will also feature a performance by the 34th Infantry Division Red Bull Band, the release states.

The Woodbury Yellow Ribbon Network also canceled its public Veterans Day ceremony last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Members of VFW Post 9024 and the American Legion Post 501 were invited to a private ceremony at the Woodbury Lions Veterans Memorial, where a wreath was laid to honor veterans.
