• Notice and Public Explanation of a Proposed Activity in the 100-Year Floodplain (thegazebogazette.com) — A major beachfront resilience project is planned along Highway 90 from Gulfport to Biloxi, adding a concrete pathway above the seawall to cut sand on the roadway and improve the beach walk. Part of the work will occur near Pine Grove Avenue in Biloxi, and residents can submit comments on the floodplain impacts through December 27.
   

• Holiday travel gets cheaper as gas prices drop below $3 nationally (wlbt.com) — Biloxi drivers are seeing welcome relief at the pump as gas prices in South Mississippi hover near $2.18 a gallon, with national averages dipping below $3. Local commuters say the drop is easing tight budgets, and AAA expects prices could fall even further after the busy holiday travel season.
   

• Madison County high school basketball roundup: MRA stays perfect as district play looms (onlinemadison.com) — Biloxi’s boys and girls basketball teams both faced Madison Central this past week, splitting results in non-district matchups that help set the tone before region play. The boys fell 73-49 while the girls won 62-42, with several Madison County programs also tuning up against statewide competition.
